[ seems like the most sensible assumption to make, though derek runs the risk here of being wrong and giving tate something else to be mad about. it's always hard to know how to toe the line between helping and prying, when it comes to tate. sometimes he needs a push, sometimes he needs to be left alone, and derek "arguably gets teenagers killed after failing to go to a therapist" hale still hasn't mastered that balance, even after two years of being here. ]
